Loves Labour Lost: The Rant
14/2/07 16:52(Note: Cursing ahead)
Valentine's Day...It comes during February, the shortest month of the year. Coincidence?
I used to like it and I think still do but not for the reason it's meant to symbolize. If there's to be a love day, it should be a love day for ALL love, not just couples. What about the single people? Are we to just languish about, watching all the people make with the blatant PDA and parade around roses and balloons and stuff?
You can have your day, that's fine. It's just a little bit like getting kicked in the knee for the heck of it for someone who has no one to celebrate with.
My track record has been thus in the past year or two:
1.) Sam/Shane (he decided he wanted to be called Sam one day so it stuck.) Nice, generous guy. He buys me dinner and lunch multiple times. I hang out at his house, there's smoochness and goodness had by all. I buy him something for his birthday, then that same day he decides to "Break up" with me (I don't even know if we were dating or what it was) because he's a very "physical" guy and I'm not.
Translation: He just wanted to fuck me.
2.) Nathan. Nice guy. 28-ish. Kid. No car, not that it makes a difference except given that I'd have to take him anywhere. But really nice. Really smart. Study buddies for a class. I go to his apartment, there's attempted make out session all mostly on his end. He smokes so it's kinda cigarette flavored. Eventually...we deviated even though I wanted to pursue it further. Later, I find out from my girl friend that all he wanted was...someone to fuck. A rebound girl from his breakup with his fiance.
3.) Jason. Nice guy. Funny. No car either. (I'm noticing a pattern.) 26. Didn't want sex, or so he told me (or I was told). Relationship develops...and then he stops calling me because he decides to date a 40 year old woman. I have nothing against her, it's him that pisses me off. Rather than just tell me so I know not to pursue things any further, he decides to just let it taper off. Thanks a lot.
This is not my best day ever.
On the plus side, I got candy and a card from my mother. So there.
